During my first trip to Italy, in the early seventies, I became interested in Byzantine iconography. Upon my return, assisting in the New York City studio of the acclaimed iconographer Sviatoslav Hordinsky, was a great opportunity for me to help execute many icon projects for interiors of Ukrainian - Eastern Rite churches in Canada, USA and Europe.
Subsequently this enabled me to complete numerous independent icon projects for individual patrons and churches, also chapel murals for Edmonton, Alberta and a convent in Rome, Italy.
The tradition of presenting icons has been incorporated into contemporary life. Icons are given to celebrate birth, christening, first holy communion, names day, and weddings.
